Rebecca Selkirk was a Qualified Hairdresser in her former life managing and traning apprentises for over 25years, after selling her salon she needed a new challenge and went to work in the bike industry, only ever riden a bike not knowing too much about them, it didn't take long for Ritchie to knock her into shape. Now having been in in the industry for 10years she is comfortable helping customers with the basic maintence of their bike, and knows almost as much as anyone else about bikes. Rebecca has done the Taupo challenge a couple of times and has completed some of the Scorching Bay Triathalons but prefers to ride her mountain bike for fun she leaves the racing to her partner Rob Duff and enjoys being his support crew when she is able to.
Ritchie Rossiter the Maestro Mechanic of the Manawatu he has been looking after the bikes in the wider Palmerston North area for over 30years. Ritchie is a keen recreational road rider he has done The Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge in his earler years of biking now he enjoys nothing better than going for a cruise on is bike and stopping for a coffee and cake either part way through his ride or to finish of the perfect ride. Shaun Jacobs is our import from the UK he has come from an interesting engineering background with a lot of top secret info that you'd have to twist his arm to hear about it, but boy once he starts you can't turn it off. When he arrived in NZ he thought he'd give Mountain Biking a bit of a go and soon became addicted to cycling and the social aspects of the sport. He decided he needed to know how the bikes worked, being an engineer in his past life, so off he went to become a Shimano certified mechanic and under the the watchful eye and guidance of Ritchie has become very skilled.
Alex is a full-time student working on the weekends, having joined our team at the end of 2015. Alex has nearly finished his Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science, he hopes to continue with a post-graduate diploma in Medical Technology specialising in Cardiac Physiology.
Special areas of interest are in ergogenic stimulants, human nutrition and scientific research, having conducted a study on caffeine and power as well as now being involved in a summer research project.
Road Cycling is Alex’s go-to sport, but he also enjoys casual mountain biking, especially when there’s no climbing involved. Outside of the cycling world Alex regularly trains strength and conditioning, with a focus on maximal strength and powerlifting.
