Cheap, poor quality product.
By nathan from Christchurch on 30 August 2010
Used these in the UK on my single speed commute of 30km per day. All weather cycling, these lasted about 1500km (10 weeks).
Bearings aren't sealed, so water and grit just grind them to a paste fairly quickly. Winter months with salted roads were even worse.
So, three Shimano freewheels down, I found about the Eno. Compare that to an Eno freewheel - on my first and still going strong after 12,000km! Yep, the Eno costs more, but it's a beauty.
This Shimano freewheel is a cheap throw-away part. If I'm out on the trail, miles from anywhere I know which part I'd fit-and-forget and be confident that I'd arrive back home with everything intact.
