Why train on ultegra/dura-ace? Tiagra is fine
By chris from Auckland on 30 May 2011
With 9 speed cassettes getting harder to find, I decided to switch my training bike cassette from ultegra down to tiagra, saving the ultegra cassettes for racing.
When you hold the two cassettes in your hands, the tiagra is of much cheaper construction. However, within a few miles that is forgotten and now I cannot really tell any difference.
Half the price, lasts just as long ... train with the heavy cassette and race with the lighter one for some extra speed on the day.
