I really love this bike (2010 version) and after replacing the pedals with metal versions of what was on (for $50) it is as stock and adding a chainstay protector (a old tyre tube for free) to the back of the bike to prevent chain rub on the frame, the bike is working fine. though it is time for a new rear tyre after about 800-900 km.
Thinking about new handlebar grips and a real chunky rear tyre. So stable at high speeds on the trails and loving the rapid fire shifters and hydraulic brakes.
I am thinking about fitting longer and softer forks to the bike as well to further improve the handling.
It does the drops great up to about 1 metre with the seat all the way down and there is very little frame flex.
I ride mine in McLaren falls park all the time and have taken it up to oripi once as well. I haven't taken it up to the redwoods yet but my brother has gone there on his GT avalanche 2.
I find the ridge rider a better bike than his for high speed on the trails though and the ridge rider definitely looks way better than his bike as well. I am rating it 4 because I love everything about it except the fork (too stiff), original pedals (snapped in half), tyres (too skinny for mtb), and the hand grips (keep sliding round).
Happy riding everyone and I would definitely recommend this bike to anyone out there for its great features.

Excellent value bike for both around town and off road. Have had hours of fun in the Redwoods at Rotorua.
