Brendan - Head Mechanic

I have worked here at Spokesman Avantiplus Blenheim since starting in 2000. I have completed the following Retail and Mechanical courses:

  • Shimano - Mechanical course
  • SRAM - Mechanical
  • A+ Dynamic Bike Fit
  • New Zealand Apprenticeship for Bicycle Sales and Services (I was the first in NZ to become fully qualified, and was nominated for the South Island Modern Apprenticeship Award where I placed in the top four)
  • Level 2 & 3 Bicycle Sales and Service
  • Level 2 & 3 Retail ITO
  • SBCU Specialized Bicycle Components University Bachelors and Masters course.
  • Specialized Body Geometry - incorporates shoe and saddle fit
  • New Zealand Retail Association Training Programs
  • The Friedman Group Retail Avanti Training and Sales Program


If you are having a mechanical problem I am the one to help SOLVE it, you'll find me hanging out in the Shimano Certified Service Centre at the back of the shop or contact us. If your bike is causing your body to 'groan' don't hesitate to come on in, have a chat --- WHY a bike fit could benefit you and your riding.

I have been with the team for three years. Its been great, as here at Spokesman Avantiplus Blenheim they believe in training, educating and supporting their staff. I am currently part of the Retail Apprenticeship (Retail ITO) scheme, having completed Stage 2 and now commencing Stage 3, also I have completed the below courses:

  • Avanti Training Program & Sales (Friedman Group Retail Consulting and Training)
  • Retail and Sales Training
  • 2009 SBCU - Specialized University Bachelors Program
  • Competent Dynamic Bike Fit Technician
  • Specialized Body Geometry Saddle Fit System

Hi my name is Lynne,
I have been involved with Avantiplus team for over 3 years, in the background doing the accounts and website.  I have now joined them working approxmately 25 hours a week, still doing the accounts, website.  My role now is to also try and get more awareness out in the community, promoting the shop and its services.  I have now set up a facebook page, please join us on facebook. Another roll I have undertaken is to ensure our records are up to date and to get feedback by way of asking existing and past customers complete a survey, this can be picked up at the shop.  I have given my time to be involved with Walk Bike Community and Cycle Safety programmes.
In my spare time I enjoy cycling, haven ridden several times Round Lake Taupo, Source to Sea, Lake Brunner and many more events around NZ and overseas. 
We have introduced a sunday morning coffee cycle group departing at 9.00 from 61 Queen St.
